Soul Journey

43_Soul Journey - Root

The understanding of our earthly roots, have forever been intertwined with trees. “Trees of Life” have been found in multiple creation stories throughout the world. One of the most storied is that the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden.

In Jewish mysticism the Tree of Life is central to the Kabbalah (receiving). It outlines the mystical path of the soul as it travels through the primordial Tree of Life and its ten Sephirah (wisdom). The soul originally exists in the infinite space beyond the tree known as Ein Sof, before It chooses to enter the first Sephirah named Kether (divine will) located at the top of the tree. The soul travels down through the Tree of Life to receive wisdom from the 10 Sephirah. When the soul reaches Malkuth (Earth) it becomes grounded in the physical world as a human.

From this place of being human, the soul can revisit the ten Sephirah by traveling up the Tree of Life to receive and reveal the wisdom of itself as a soul. By doing so the soul attains Da’at (oneness) as it now knows both its physical nature as a human and the infinite nature of its soul.

Carl Jung believed that the human psyche was “by nature religious” and what set humans apart from other species was their continued search for meaning and purpose. He felt that the psyche individuated itself from its soul in search of its purpose in life. When the psyche longs to know more it begins the journey of exploring its self as a soul. Jung saw trees as the archetype of the psyche and mandalas as the archetype of wholeness. To be whole is to know our divine nature as “holy”.

The Tree of Life diagram is revealed in the Flower of Life matrix and color-coded to reflect the seven chakras within us.

Message: We are being asked to remember the bigger picture of our life. By following our heart we will find our path.

“We do not see things as they are. We see them as we are.”  -Talmud –

The Tree of Life diagram is modeled after the Menorah.  – Exodus 25: 31-40

“He made the menorah of pure gold. He made the menorah of beaten work. Its base, its shaft, its cups, its buds, and its flowers were of one piece with it. There were six branches going out of its sides: three branches of the menorah out of its one side, and three branches of the menorah out of its other side: three cups made like almond-blossoms in one branch, a bud and a flower, and three cups made like almond-blossoms in the other branch, a bud and a flower: so for the six branches going out of the menorah. In the menorah were four cups made like almond-blossoms, its buds and its flowers; and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, for the six branches going out of it. Their buds and their branches were of one piece with it. The whole thing was one beaten work of pure gold.”

Soul Body

In yogic tradition, Kundalini energy or “serpent power” resides at the base of the spine in the root chakra where it remains dormant. Through yoga, meditation and conscious breathing Kundalini energy rises up through the chakras to help us achieve expanded states of consciousness.

In Greco-Roman tradition the Caduceus of the messenger gods Hermes and Mercury, contained two intertwining serpents as symbols of balanced reciprocity. The earliest image of two intertwining snakes is associated with the Sumerian god Ningishzida meaning “lord of the good tree” who lived half the year in the underworld and the other half in the upperworld.

In alchemy, these serpents represented the balance of opposing forces, similar to the Taoist philosophy of yin-yang. Yin is the silver energy of the moon receiving light, while Yang is the penetrating golden sun.

Serpents are known to be ancient symbols of transformation and renewal as they shed their skin in order to grow. In Judeo-Christian tradition, Seraphim are seen as angelic serpents of light who protected the “throne of god” in the seventh heaven. In Judaic mysticism, Uriel is the archangel of wisdom who gave the book of secrets to Metatron. In the Kabbalah, this wisdom is known as “the way of the return” in the Tree of Life.

Our soul body provides an internal map that encourages us to travel through the seven worlds of our chakras to expand our consciousness and attain balance.

Message: This is a time to create balance in all areas of life. If we are feeling stuck, remember that this is temporary, for all things change. Imagine being at peace with our true self and seeing change as an opportunity to create a new way of being.

“It is not the body, nor the personality, that is the true self. The true Self is eternal. Even on the point of death we can say to ourselves. My true Self is free. I cannot be contained.” – Marcus Aurelius –

Soul Spectrum

Soul Spectrum

Soul spectrum refers to the six spectral colors plus white light that vibrate throughout the energetic light body. The light body is invisible to the human eye, yet can be felt through subtle touch. Light is created by the Sun, which generates an electro-magnetic spectrum of light made up of various frequencies and wavelengths.

This electro-magnetic spectrum represents less than 5% of all matter. Only 2.3% of this 5% is seen as visible white light. Visible white light is created by bands of monochromatic light or the spectral colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Frequencies of light higher than violet are invisible to the naked eye, such as ultra violet “above violet”, X-rays and gamma rays.

Lower frequencies such as microwaves, radar waves, television and radio waves fall under what we call infrared or below red, which are also invisible to the human eye.

Black is not a spectral color, it’s the absence of light.

Message: It is time for us to widen our perspective on life by seeing that nothing is just black or white.  Between light and dark there are an endless variety of tones and colors that are reminding us to honor all viewpoints and all living beings.  Explore the full spectrum of possibilities and be open to all options available to us. Honor the darkness as well as the light, for both will help us radiate with confidence and love.  Connect with our luminous nature and let our colorful spirit shine!

“Nature always wears the colors of the spirit.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Soul Essence

Soul Essence

The Soul’s Essence is love, which is shared through the silent language of the heart. The essential nature of being human is to share our life with others. Our soul transcends ordinary reality by communicating our thoughts without words.

Flowers also have a silent language, which were used to convey secret messages that could not be spoken in public.

Roses hold a special place in our hearts for they are ancient symbols of love and beauty. Roses have been associated with goddesses such as Isis (Egyptian), Aphrodite (Greek) and Venus (Roman) along with the Virgin Mary in Catholicism.

The Latin word rosarium, meaning “a garland or garden of roses” inspired the naming of the Catholic rosary, as a “garden of prayers.” Prayer beads made from crushed rose petals, rosewood or other materials are used to enhance devotional prayers or meditation in various spiritual traditions, including Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam.

The essence of rose is the most precious essential oil on Earth. It takes 30 roses to make one drop of essential oil.

Roses symbolize love, passion and peace.

Message: Visualize the soul as a flower bud located in the heart chakra that can open or close depending on what it feels. By listening to the silent language in our heart we can discern what is truly happening around us. Our soul’s true essence is to be loved and to share that love with others. Embrace our soul’s essence as we release, renew, rebirth and rejoice in the life and love we are sharing!

“If you’ve never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.” – Terri Guillemets

Soul Sound

Soul Sound

The language of our soul is created by the vibrations in our chakras. Each chakra resonates to a sound or vibration when vocalized as a mantra (prayer).  When you vocalize a sound such as a Bija (seed) mantra you connect with the energetic vibration of that chakra. The Sri Yantra is the visual form of the mantra AUM. AUM is seen as the essence of creation and oneness, within Hindu & Buddhist philosophy. The Sri Yantra represents the merging of Shiva (male) and Shakti (female) energies to achieve spiritual union between the mind, body and soul. This awakens our awareness of the creative life force energy within us.

Vibration can also be felt without being heard. Our breath creates vibration, our heartbeat creates vibration. These vibrations that resonate within us also connect us with the resonance of earth and the universe through the vibrational ripples they create in the form of wavelengths.

The science of Cymatics and Schumann’s Resonance explores these vibrations as electro-magnetic waves or frequencies of invisible energy. We are most at peace when our heart beats in rhythm with nature because we are interconnected with it.

Our throat chakra is the gatekeeper of our ancestral and cultural stories as well as the stories of the collective unconscious. As the gatekeeper it discerns which stories held in the upper three chakras (throat, third eye and crown) will be shared with our heart and how our heart interprets them.

Message: Take time to listen to the sounds in our life and feel if they align with our soul. Go out in nature, without electronic devices, and connect with the rhythms around us. Sound is vibration and we are vibrational beings. Find your soul’s voice and use it for good.

“Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.” – Plato

Soul Tree

Soul Tree

Trees remind us that we are interconnected with everything. The Soul reminds us that the connection we seek will forever be within us. We are united through our shared roots while we live on this earth and reach for the stars. The soul’s desire to feel connection on earth and among the stars inspired epic stories and myth’s that shaped our understanding of life.

Over 5000 years ago ancient Mesopotamian astronomers associated seven wandering “stars” that were seen with the naked eye as divine deities who watched over earth. These seven “wanderers” were actually the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Seven soon became a number of “divine order” which inspired the seven-day week.

Around 800 BCE, Greek poets and philosophers, such as Homer and Hesiod, reimagined these seven planetary deities as the Titans and Olympians who ruled over Earth in mythological epics. The Romans later associated these gods with the seven days of the week by naming each day in honor of their planetary ruler. When Greek and Latin were translated into German and English these ancient gods were renamed for their Germanic and Norse counterparts.

Trees reach up and out to remind us of our shared roots.

Seven Wanderers – Seven Days of the Week – Ruling Deities (Partial list)

  1. Moon – Monday – Moon’s Day: (German-Mani) (Roman-Luna/Diana) (Greek-Artemis/Selene) (Sumer-Nanna)
  2. Mars – Tuesday – Tyr’s Day: (Norse-Tyr son of Odin) (Roman-Mars) (Greek-Aries) (Sumer-Nergal)
  3. Mercury – Wednesday – Wodan’s Day: (German-Wodan) (Norse-Odin) (Roman-Mercury) (Greek-Hermes) (Sumer-Enki)
  4. Jupiter – Thursday – Thor’s Day: (Norse-Thor) (Roman-Jupiter) (Greek-Zeus) (Sumer-Enlil)
  5. Venus – Friday – Freya’s Day: (Norse-Freya) (German-Eostre) (Roman-Venus) (Greek-Aphrodite) (Sumer-Inanna)
  6. Saturn – Saturday – Saturn’s Day: (Roman-Saturn) (Greek-Cronus) (Sumer-Ninurta)
  7. Sun – Sunday – Sun’s Day: (German-Sunna) (Latin-Sol) (Roman-Helios) (Greek-Apollo, Helios) (Sumer-Utu)

Message: Look deeper into the roots of the present situation to uncover insights that will provide clearer direction. We are not alone on this journey in life. This is a time to decide what feels right to our soul and to move forward.

“All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree.” ‐ Albert Einstein

Soul Light

Soul Light

The Axis Mundi (World Tree) and Anima Mundi (World Soul) represent our primordial connection between all living things. The World Tree functions as a bridge between the earthly and celestial realms, while the World Soul reminds us of our collective soul. This cosmic axis was inspired by the ancient relationship between trees and stars. Many cultures around the world believed their ancestors spirits traveled to the stars after death and that trees functioned as ladders to the stars.

When humans began to study the night sky in search of guidance and understanding, they observed a stationary star in the Northern Hemisphere that all other stars circled around. This star became known as the North Star or Pole Star.

Many cultures, including the Egyptians, saw the North Star as a portal to the afterlife where souls would be reborn.

There are Six North Stars that rotate within a 25,800-year cycle, or Platonic Year. This cycle is caused by earth’s rotational wobble known as the Precession of the Equinoxes. Thuban, our previous North Star, is located in the constellation Draco (dragon). Draco inspired many myths of dragons and feathered serpents that shed light into our shared history. Polaris is our current Pole Star it will come the closest to our celestial North Pole in 2100. Polaris will then slowly begin to move away as another North Star takes its place.

Ring of North Stars and their Constellations

(These dates are when each star reaches its peak position)

Past North Stars

  • Vega – 12,000 BCE – Constellation Lyra (Lyre)
  • Thuban – 3000 BCE – Constellation Draco (Dragon)

Present North Star

  • Polaris – 2100 CE – Constellation Ursa Minor (Bear)

Future North Stars

  • Errai – 4000 CE – Constellation Cepheus (King)
  • Alderamin – 7500 CE – Constellation Cepheus (King)
  • Denab – 10,000 CE – Constellation Cygnus (Swan)
  • Vega – 14,000 CE – Constellation Lyra (Lyre)

Message: We are beings of light that are interconnected with everything around us. Our soul is our “true north” connecting us to the light of the North Star. Now is a time of seeking guidance and direction by trusting our soul’s inner compass.

“You have no need to travel anywhere. Journey within yourself and bathe in the splendor of your own light.” – Rumi
