Crown Chakra

The crown chakra represents our connection beyond the self to the mystical aspects of our soul’s true nature. Swiss psychologist Carl Jung felt that the human psyche “was by nature religious,” and to heal the soul would require a journey to meet the self and the divine within. Mankind has created over a thousand names for god in search of connection. The crown chakra reminds us to seek the divine within.

The Sanskrit word Sahasrara, means “thousand-petaled throne”. This is the place where our dreams unfold, as we travel beyond the illusion of time and space. We wish upon stars that have filled the night sky for billions of years. The crown chakra reminds us that they are all within our reach.

Tree Branches

7_Crown Chakra - Upperworld

The crown chakra is associated with the archetype of tree branches that are reaching out for spiritual connection.

They represent our desire to connect to something beyond our self. Just as the roots of a tree reach downinto the earth, branches reach up toward the sky. Many early cultures believed that when a person diedtheir physical body returned to the earth and their soul or spirit returned to the stars. The word divine comes from the Latin root word “devin” meaning “as above”.  The sound of wind through the branches of a tree believed to be the voice of the divine.

In Sumerian mythology, Enlil was known as the lord of the wind, and the Cedars of Lebanon were the home of the gods.

Enlil became known as El and Elohim, which inspired the Judeo-Christian faith. There are multiple myths that associate trees with the divine. The Greek sky god Zeus was associated with oak trees.  The name Zeus is directly related to the Vedic sky father Dyaus Pitr, later known as Jove or Jupiter in Rome. There are thousands of names for “god”, which is also nameless.

The branches of a tree hold these sacred stories written in the sky as the crown chakra connects us to our source.

Message: It is time for us to reach out and believe in our dreams.  Allow our dreams to be known so the universe can help us make them come true.  Remember that we are a child of the universe who came from the stars.

“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” – John Muir

Sphere

21_Light - Sphere - Crown

The sphere is associated with the element of light within our crown chakra. Light often represents our sacred connection to our source and the infinite nature of our soul. Spheres inspire the mind to transcend the mundane world of matter.

Our sun is a sphere and a star, it is also our primary source of light. The electromagnetic spectrum of lightmakes up less than 5% of all ordinary matter. Light that is actually visible to the human eye represents lessthan 2.3% of this spectrum. This spectrum of visible light is created by narrow wavelengths of pure spectralcolors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Infrared light (below red) and ultra violet (above violet) aremade up of frequencies invisible to the human eye.

This full electromagnetic spectrum of light includes: visible light rays, ultraviolet waves, radio waves, microwaves, infrared waves, X-rays and gamma rays.

The remaining 95% of our universe contains dark energy and dark matter. We tend to be drawn to the light but we live in a universe filled with unmanifested darkness.  This can be seen as pure potential waiting to become manifest.

Message: Balancing darkness and light is an important dynamic in all aspects of our life. Both are necessary to maintain optimum health physically and spiritually. If we fear the dark it is time to make peace with it.  Think of darkness as the unmanifested potential that lies within us. If the dark represents fear, remember that we are the one projecting this fear. When we own our projections, we realize that we are the only ones who can change it.  If sleep is an issue create a darker environment in the bedroom and establish a nourishing nighttime ritual that calms the senses. If we avoid the light we should go outside and make peace with the sun and the moon in moderation. Create a daily routine that balances the light and the dark aspects that are playing out in our life right now.

“We are each gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.” – Evelyn Dunbar

Awakened Self

The awakened self sees the one and all in everything. Carl Jung focused on integrating the opposite aspects of the conscious and unconscious mind to deepen the sense of self. He saw that the human psyche was by nature religious, seeking to understand the meaning of life and death.  This led to the creation of stories and religions that separated the soul.  He believed that to heal the soul it would require a journey within to meet the self and the divine at the same time. He saw the concept of archetypes as the shared experiences of being human.

It is through these archetypes that we can awaken the self.

The story of the Garden of Eden symbolizes the archetypal separation of the human psyche from the soul.  Jung saw the tree as an archetype of the human psyche. He saw the mandala as the archetype of wholeness, where the self and the soul become one. When the self reaches this level of awareness, also called enlightenment, moksha, nirvana etc.… the ability to see through time and space becomes accessible with a single thought. Life becomes infinitely expansive as awareness radiates in all directions in every dimension. This might sound mind blowing but it is what many seekers seek, bliss. It is pure and uncluttered, there are no worries or pretenses. We just are.

Message: See ourself as a soul having a human experience. Sense the infinite world within us. Whatever troubles we are experiencing are merely temporary. Look around and see the miracles of life. Feel gratitude by rising above the mundane.

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” – Rumi

Soul Light

Soul Light

Soul Light connects us to our cosmic source. Trees have served as connectors of our collective soul as they pointed toward the center of the night sky to help us find our way. The Axis Mundi (World Tree) and Anima Mundi (World Soul) connect us to our universal soul. During the day our source of light comes from the Sun, in the center of our solar system. Our Soul Light comes from within us, anchored by a mythical tree connecting us to the cosmos. As humans studied the night sky, they observed a stationary star in the Northern Hemisphere that other stars rotated around. This star became known as the North Star or Pole Star.

Trees were natures original compasses that inspired humans to explore and record the movements of the sun, moon and stars.

Polaris, our current Pole Star, will come closest to the center of our actual North Pole in 2100. Polaris will then slowly begin to move away as another Pole Star will take its place. Pole Stars change over a period of 25,800 years (also known as a Platonic Year). This is caused by the earth’s rotational wobble known as the precession of the equinoxes. The constellation Draco (dragon) contained Thuban, the previous pole star. Draco inspired many mythological stories of dragons and feathered serpents that continue to shine a light into our shared history.

“You have no need to travel anywhere. Journey within yourself and bathe in the splendor of your own light.” – Rumi
