Third Eye Chakra

Third Eye Chakra

Our third eye intuits information relayed from the prefrontal neocortex at the front of our brain to the pineal gland at the base of our brain. This information is then felt and interpreted in our heart. As we trust our heart’s ability to discern knowledge, we increase our intuitive sense of inner knowing and wisdom. Knowledge is the process of gathering information; how we perceive this knowledge is wisdom.

The Sanskrit word Ajna, means “Commanding our spiritual guidance”. This refers to our ability to merge the logical mind with our intuitive soul, to see with the singular eye. Right knowing is our ability to see with our heart instead of our eyes. As we trust in our senses, we can dream our world into being.

Tree Trunk

6_Third Eye Chakra - Middleworld

The third eye chakra is associated with the archetype of the tree trunk. Trees anchor us in the present moment as we exercise our intuition and connect with our inner wisdom.

The trunk of a tree is symbolic of our awakened or conscious state that resides with us. It represents the middle world that we presently live in.

In some native cultures, trees are referred to as “The Standing People.” They hold the wisdom for humans to survive on earth. Trees are the ones that made it possible for humans to live on earth by purifying the air we breathe as well as providing shelter, fire and food. They were the one who connected humans with the stars, by functioning as ladders and sundials.

In Celtic culture trees were honored as ancestor spirits and divine beings. A person who could access the wisdom of a tree was considered to be “tree wise”. They were known as Druids, who could merge with treesto gather information in the lower, middle and upper worlds. The name Druid comes from the Proto-Indo-European words daru (tree & truth) and vid (wisdom).

Trees inspired many of the great mystery teachings, creation stories and sacred beliefs around the world. These stories were consciously shared in the oral tradition for hundreds of generations. They now exist in the collective unconscious.

By opening our third eye and aligning it within our heart, we can begin to awaken the collective unconsciousthrough the singular eye of the soul.

Message: Trust in our inner knowing by being aware and present in the moment. Feel what is happening around us and within us. As our intuition develops anchor it within our heart to learn what feels right to our soul. This will help us to sort out what is true or false. See with our heart instead of our eyes.

“One is wise to cultivate the tree that bears fruit in our soul” – Henry David Thoreau

Knowledge of Life

13_Metatrons Cube - Third Eye

The knowledge of life is revealed within our third eye chakra. Here the circular world consciously merges with the linear as one. This matrix is created by connecting the center points of each of the 13-independent circles in the Fruit of Life with 78 lines. This matrix is often referred to as Metatron’s Cube.

Metatron, or “measured throne” in Hebrew, was the name given to the prophet Enoch when he was transformed into an angel. According to the Talmud and Kabbalah, Metatron is the first sefirot Kether, “throne or crown” who sits at the top of the Tree of Life. In Islam, he is known as Mitatrun “the angel of the veil”. As an angelic scribe, Metatron guards the “Book of Secrets”, which is thought to hold the answers for humankind’s return to the Garden of Eden.

The female counterpart to Metatron is Shekhinah, which is “dwelling” in Hebrew. In the Kabbalah, Shekhinah is associated with the tenth sefirot Malkuth, “kingdom on Earth” who sits at the bottom of the Tree of Life.

The knowledge of life represents our intuitive knowing that the circular world of the divine feminine and the linear world of the divine masculine are within each of us. When we see ourself as whole, we are in fact holy. The judgment between heaven and earth, male and female, or even good and evil dissolves, when we realize that we are all divine souls living within a human body. This knowledge was hidden for thousands of years by those who wished to be the gatekeepers of our soul.

This wisdom of the soul resurfaced in the Kabbalah during the middles ages in Jewish mysticism, which is related to Sufi mysticism. The Kabbalah, as the Tree of Life, represents the journey of the soul as it descends through 10 sefirot to actualize itself in its earthly form. As an actualized human the soul ascends the 10 sefirot to attain infinite oneness beyond the tree. This archetypal journey of the soul is reflected in the 78-cards of the modern-day Tarot. Especially in the 22 cards of the Major Arcana (big secrets). The 56 cards of the Minor Arcana (little secrets) are divided into four suits related to the four elements (earth, fire, water and air).

As the Knowledge of Life awakens our inner wisdom it ripples into the collective unconscious by bringing our world into focus through the eyes of the soul.

Message: Trust both our rational mind and our intuitive senses as we awaken to a new way of being. By looking at our present situation from all directions it will become clear which action(s) we need to take in order to feel both grounded and expansive. This is a time to open our mind so we can see with our heart.

Dodecahedron

20_Ether - Dodecahedron - Third Eye

The dodecahedron is connected to the element of ether, or “divine air” that exists above the clouds within our third eye.

A dodecahedron is a polygon with 12 equal pentagonal faces. Plato worked with this concept as a modelfor the zodiac. Aristotle defined it as the element of ether and associated it with divine thought or will. It isseen as the invisible energy of space.

The combination of a dodecahedron (ether) with an icosahedron (water) creates a truncated icosahedron representing the vaporized structure of carbon. This is also known as a Fullerene or Bucky Ball, named after Buckminster Fuller.

As carbon beings, we are made primarily of water and energy. It is remarkable that Aristotle understood this over 2000 years ago. Fullerenes are now considered the galactic seeds of life.

The dodecahedron is aligned within the third eye chakra reminding us of the power of our intuitive thought. The paradox is that without imagination, we would have no knowledge. Without knowledge, imagination cannot be developed. In truth we need both.

The third eye encourages both knowledge and imagination as we dance between the worlds of divine thought and earthly will.

Message: Trust our knowledge and our imagination. This will help us to see that nothing is impossible. Use our wisdom and our intuition to see all of the options available to us and to choose which is right for our soul. It is important that we trust and believe in ourself. We do possess the ability to make our vision a reality.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” – Albert Einstein

Collective Conscious

The collective conscious is a set of shared beliefs, ideas and moral attitudes that operate as a unifying force within society. This occurs when the anima (feminine desire within men) and animus (masculine desire within women) comes into balance and harmony with each other. By awakening and healing the archetypal stories held in the collective unconscious mind we can move forward into collective consciousness. As the collective consciousness grows, the collective unconscious diminishes until we become unified, whole and healed.

To awaken the collective consciousness requires us to step out of fear and learn to trust in the lanquage of our heart. By opening our intuitive third eye we can begin to connect to others is ways we had not thought possible. In this state of unity consciousness each person and culture retains and respects the uniqueness of others. This is necessary for the continued evolution of the soul and for humans as a species.  As we awaken together, we heal the wounds and stories of our ancestors throughout time for generations to come.

Message: Trust in our knowing and transform our knowledge into wisdom.  We are now seeing what the great sages of the world have been teaching for thousands of years. Let compassion, love and nonjudgment reframe our awareness of our life and those around us. Take another look at something we had dismissed and see it from the perspective of the compassionate soul.

“All our knowledge has its origins in our perceptions.” – Leonardo DaVinci
