17. Tetrahedron – Fire – Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra is named for the Latin word for Sun –Sol. A tetrahedron has four equal triangular faces. It is symbolic of the element of fire. Fire releases heat and light through a process known as combustion. The sun as the core of our solar system is our primary source of energy, heat and light.
Our sun is a yellow dwarf star that formed 4.6 billion years ago. The temperature of the sun’s surface is approx. 10,000° Fahrenheit, at its core it reaches 27 million degrees. It is a ball of gas (hydrogen & helium) that is held together by its own gravity. Our digestive system within the solar plexus functions like a finely tuned furnace, maintaining a temperature of 98.6° Fahrenheit.
The Sun was central to many cultures throughout the world for its life-giving properties. They recorded the sun by charting the equinoxes and solstices.
These ancient astronomers created solar calendars to track the seasons of the year as they shifted from hunter gatherers to agricultural societies. This shift marked the beginning of a more linear way of thinking that some refer to as the Arian (Aries) Age. The Arian Age, which began around 2100 BCE, was seen as an age of fire and war. It is also when the Egyptian Pharaoh, Akhenaten decreed the Sun God “Aten” as the one supreme deity. The Roman’s revered the Sun as the Sol Invictus, “the invincible one”. When the Roman’s replaced their polytheistic belief system with the monotheistic belief of “one” Christian God, the “Sun” became the “Sun of God” within the holy trinity of father, son and holy spirit. Ironically this sense of the “one” as the “other” disconnected many from feeling the light within.
Message: Fire and sunlight hold life-giving properties that feed your soul. It is important for you to become more conscious of the foods you eat as well as the thoughts and intentions you take in. Create a sacred fire ceremony to cleanse your emotional and energetic body. Meditate with fire as you balance the power growing within. Honor the sun for the joy and life that it brings. Become conscious of how to manifest this energy within you.
“Labor to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience.” – George Washington
The solar plexus chakra is located in the stomach area and is connected to the digestive system. This is a place of vitality, confidence, courage, integrity, joy and sweetness. It represents the world of the mythic and the archetype of the hummingbird. Hummingbirds and dragonflies remind us that nothing is impossible when we see our life as sacred fairytales that we get to rewrite. In sacred geometry, this is the seed of life that holds our hidden potential. Its element is fire and its belief is forged in the Hindu tradition of tending the eternal Agni fire. The light of the solar plexus casts shadows within the self. The greatest gifts can be found hiding behind our fear. This chakra goes into the darkness of the self to retrieve the wisdom born of fire. By making peace within the darkness one can more fully stand in their light.
