Flower of Life

Heart Chakra – Sacred Geometry – Flower of Life

Our heart chakra blossoms within the Flower of Life. This is where the days and nights of our lunar months and solar years are woven into one nurturing and harmonizing story.

The Flower of Life is formed when a ring of twelve circles are added to the seven circles in the Seed of Life. These twelve additional circles represent the 12 moons, or lunar month of 29.5 days within a lunar year as well as the 12 constellations of the zodiac. The word “zodiac” is Greek for “ring of animals” and represents the archetypal stories that humanity saw in the stars. Together they form a matrix of 19 interlocking circles, which is the exact number of years it takes to synchronize a lunisolar calendar, due to the seasonal drift of a lunar year.

This harmony is achieved by adding a 13th lunar month seven times within a 19-year lunisolar cycle. This process became known as a Metonic cycle, named for Meton of Athens in 432 BCE. Earlier cultures had been factoring this into their calendars since 8000 BCE to harmonize the cycles of the moon and the sun within a lunisolar year. This cycle honors the eternal union of the moon and sun as providers of light and life. This harmonious cycle helped humanity evolve from hunter-gatherers into agrarians, who could settle in one place and grow their own food.

The potential of the Flower of Life can be seen as a divine blossom pollinated by the fertile union of the sun and moon that ripens into the Fruit of Life. This blossom is revealed by seeing the seven independent circles within the matrix of nineteen interlocking circles. The number seven represents the seven days of the week, which were known as the “divine lights” of Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Moon and Sun, symbolic of sacred order.

The Tree of Life, of the Kabbalah, is also revealed within the Flower of Life matrix. The Kabbalah represents the mystical journey of the soul as it descends into human form and then consciously ascends to divine oneness. Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519) studied the hidden wisdom within the Flower of Life. He felt it represented alchemy and the transmutation of our spirit within our earthly body by knowing our divine soul as a unified one.

Message: Be open to the hidden wisdom in our soul. This wisdom is becoming more accessible as we begin to see with our hearts instead of our eyes. Just as we appreciate the gifts of others, it is time to appreciate the gifts within us. A bud is never fully realized if it does not blossom.  Now is a time of opening, to honor the person we are becoming.

“There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” – Anais Nin
