The hexahedron or cube is symbolic of Earth and is related to the root chakra that grounds us in our physical body. Earth is a nurturing and receptive archetype that is strong and resourceful. Earth provides us with everything we need including air, food, water, shelter and clothing, as well as beauty and awe.

When ancient asteroids and space particles collided with Earth, they planted seeds that carried all the elements necessary to create a vast variety of life forms. All of these life forms are interconnected and interdependent with us. Earth is the third planet from the Sun. To date, it is the only known object in the universe known to sustain life.

It was formed over 4.5 billion years ago. 71% of the earth’s surface is water making it appear blue from outer space. Earth’s atmosphere was a mixture of gases and carbon dioxide. As plants evolved, they absorbed carbon dioxide and converted it to oxygen. Trees, the largest plant forms on earth, soon covered the surface and were able to create an atmosphere that could support human life.

Modern humans first appeared on earth 200,000 years ago. Today over 7.4 billion people live on this planet and share in its resources. It is critical that we learn to live in harmony with earth and with each other. Earth provides everything we need to sustain us if we live in state of reciprocity. By connecting with nature, we can sense the footsteps and lessons of our ancestors for generations to come.

Message: Go outside in nature and connect with the mothering intelligence of Earth. Become more conscious of all that earth gives us as we eat, breathe, sleep and walk through life. Honor all of the beauty and diversity that surrounds us by reconnecting with our shared roots.
