1. Serpent – Root Chakra – Base of Spine
Serpents and humans have been intertwined since the beginning of time. Kundalini (coiled serpent) energy is located at the base of the spine (root chakra) representing the beginning point of life force energy. The Ouroborus is an ancient symbol of a serpent swallowing its tail thus creating a circular and infinite world. By shedding its skin it is nourished with the wisdom of what was shed over and over again. Carl Jung saw the Ouroborus as the archetype of inner alchemy and infinity. The Greek god of medicine, Asclepius, held a staff with a single serpent coiled around a knotty tree limb. The gods Mercury and Hermes held a Caduceus, a wooden rod entwined by two serpents topped with a pair of wings. The Caduceus symbolizes modern medicine with the central rod representing our spinal column as the mythical Tree of Life. By intertwining they become one. The wings depict the ultimate healing of the soul as it awakens to infinity.
Message: You are male and female, human and divine. Release the limited belief that you are separate or alone. Trust the ongoing process of releasing and receiving. Just as the serpent sheds its skin, you are being encouraged to shed any limiting beliefs, bad habits or clutter in your life. This will allow you to move forward with more ease and receive new insights and gifts.
“We must let go of the life we have planned, So as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” – Joseph Campbell
